Webraska unveils Webraska Navigation 6 for mobile phones

Webraska's latest satellite navigation solution to be demoed at Mobile Office (Paris, Dec 6-7-8)

Webraska, a leading provider of GPS navigation applications for mobile phones, is pleased to announce the release of Webraska Navigation 6. Webraska Navigation 6 is a powerful GPS navigation application running on mobile phones and phone PDAs, featuring speed radar alerts and traffic optimised routing. Webraska Navigation 6 provides turn-by-turn guidance with voice instructions and detailed vector maps of across Europe.

Webraska Navigation 6 turns phone PDAs and smartphones into comprehensive and reliable satellite navigation systems, therefore providing a smart alternative to dedicated satellite navigation systems or Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs).

Each year, in every country, thousands of roads, streets and round-abouts are created, change names or are modified. These constant changes tend to deteriorate over time the performance of traditional satellite navigation systems. The solution lies in Webraska Navigation 6's patented technology that permanently accesses the most up-to-date maps in Europe.

In addition, Webraska Navigation 6 advanced point-of-interest search capability allows finding key services among hundreds and thousands of records including hotels, restaurants, petrol stations and businesses, turning the mobile phone into an electronic, pocket-sized City Guide.

Finally, special care is given to optimise screen display so that all information can easily be read even on the smallest mobile phone screen, while clear and precise voice instructions keep your "hands on the wheel, eyes on the road" for safe driving.

Webraska Navigation 6 includes:

• a new, even clearer user interface: intuitive menus, maps with full zoom and pan capability, route overview maps, detailed pictograms of turns, directions summary, name and number of highway exits display
• Clear voice instructions ahead of turns for safe driving
• Sound alert ahead of speed traps, automatic and free updates of speed radars location (providing data availability)
• Traffic optimised routing and real time traffic alert display: traffic information is dynamically integrated so that traffic alerts can be displayed informing the user about the reason for the delay and the distance. A better route is automatically proposed to avoid the congested route segment (optional).
• Advanced POI search among hundred thousand addresses automatically updated: Webraska makes use of an in-house rich content integration tool to dynamically integrate POI data bases and update related information. For instance, Webraska Navigation 6 makes it possible to search for a restaurant according to the type of cuisine and the opening hours, view the contacts details and initiate a phone call to the selected restaurant in a single click. Points of interest icons may be displayed on maps to easily locate them.
• One click bookmarking of positions along your route allowing to save the location of the convenient parking place near your favourite restaurant for instance
• Bookmarking of favourite addresses
• Automatic re-route in case of wrong turn
• Automatic integration of all your contacts addresses
• Smart address entry allowing partial entries, abbreviations, and spelling mistakes
• Integration with call centres or a web service for immediate address entry
• Modular pricing model:
  • The Lifetime package offering lifetime unlimited usage for a given device, including free automatic map and radar updates (excluding communications costs).
  • The Pay per use, subscription-free package offering usage rights for a given period, for instance one day, half a day, one route; it includes map data updates for the selected package.
  • The subscription package (monthly, yearly) offering unlimited usage rights and map data updates for the duration of the subscription.

In a nutshell, the service provider may therefore offer adapted pricing models to all types of users: the " lifetime " package for regular users who do not want to deal with changing phones often; monthly subscription or pay per use packages for occasional users or users who are willing to change phones frequently.
